M7100 Bomber Jacket

I think I may have developed an obsession with jackets. Bomber jackets to be exact.

I made a floral bomber jacket last year during the McCall’s Blog sewalong, (My jacket made the photo collage on their page) using M7100. This is such a great jacket.  The design elements are endless. The first one was made from a stretch floral sateen and black satin that I had purchased from JoAnn.

I loved it so much that I made plans to make 4 more. While I love making jackets, let’s be realistic, do I really need 4 bomber jackets? Yes, I do! 

One day on one of my many excursions to my parents house, I came across some athletic mesh fabric that my mom had in her fabric stash. She was clearing out the stash so I gladly brought it home. I didn’t know what I was going to do with it at the time but fabric is fabric. Its better to have it than not have it.

While scrolling through my Pinterest bomber jacket page I came across these 2 jackets.

J.O.A. Knit Bomber Jacket

It was at that very moment that I needed a mesh bomber jacket! Hence my 2nd bomber jacket was born.

Pattern Description: M7100 Semi-fitted, unlined jackets have collar, side-front seams, bands, side-front pockets, exposed front zipper contrast panels and sleeves with shoulder dart.

 

Fabric Used: I used athletic mesh fabric I found i my Mom’s fabric stash. I think she purchased it from Hancock Fabrics before they closed. My ribbing, patch and zipper were purchased from Mood Fabrics.

Modifications: I eliminated the shoulder dart in the sleeves. I also added an iron on sequins patch.

Would you sew it again? Yes, I would sew it again. My Mom has purchased fabric for me to make her a jacket of her own. Stay tuned.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I would recommend this pattern to others, just be warned the instructions have several errors. Here is a link to a blog post for corrections.

Overall: I have plans to make more jackets with different variations. My Pinterest board has at least 30 pins for me to ponder over.

It was brought to my attention that I only sew tops and jackets, so look for dresses and pants from me in the future. Until then, enjoy theses photos of me rocking my Beyoncé bomber.
